The Museum, Salone del Mobile 2019

Beyond Space built a quiet museum of Dutch work in the loudest week of the design year. The Boring Desk was the press desk. It performed without ceremony.

During Salone del Mobile 2019 Beyond Space presented The Museum, a matte blue refuge from the annual design excess of Milan: a loop of minimal rooms filled with Dutch work that mostly refused to shout. Somewhere in the centre of that silence sat the Boring Collection, on carpets, between columns, in front of brick walls.

The Boring Desk was the press desk. A few stacked press kits, no signage. Visitors used the chairs to sit, guides used them to rest their feet, curators were more interested in the art than in what they were sitting on. The furniture did not require context, labels or approval.

The separation screen is upholstered in Regain, a fabric woven from recycled PET bottles. Roughly 40 bottles per screen.
